I håb an zurn ghåbt auf mein Feind:
Eam såg i nix, mei rage wåxt aun.

Und mid beedl håb i's zogn,
Mid meine ängst, vo friah bis spaat:
Und mid grinsa håb i's gsunnt,
Und mid foischheid, kloavadraht

Und wiar's so gwåxn, tåg und nåcht
Då bringts an schenen åpfi viar
Der wo mein feind so recht au-glåcht
Und gwisst häda, der gheart geh mir!

Und wiar da d'nåcht daun einabrocha
Då kimt mei feind in goartn krocha:
Und in da friar, mei freid glaubst kaam
Liegtda mein feind, wiar bstöd und hi-glegt,
untam baam!

A POISON TREE

I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I waterd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears:
And I sunned it with smiles
And with soft deceiteful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright.
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.

And [[my foe]] into my garden stole,
When the night had veild the pole:
In the morning glad I see:
My foe outstrechd beneath the tree.
